Happy Birthday Aamir Khan: 10 interesting facts about Mr Perfectionist


It is superstar Aamir Khan’s birthday on Monday. Born on March 14, 1965 to film producer Tahir Hussain, Mr. Perfectionist of Bollywood turns 51. Although Aamir debuted with coming-of-age drama ‘Holi’, he shot to fame with the cult romance film ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ for which he bagged the Filmfare Best Male Debut Award. The actor never fails to mesmerise audience and critics with his wide range of roles in his movies. In a career spanning over three decades, Aamir has starred in movies of varied genres -- romance, comedy, action, thriller, adventure -- and gave a superb performance in each of them. He is now doing a biographical film on Haryanvi wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat. His 2014 film ‘PK’ is the all time highest grossing Bollywood film so far with Rs 735 crore worldwide gross.
On the occasion of Aamir’s 51st birthday, let’s check out some interesting facts about the ‘thinking’ superstar:
·         Aamir hails from the family of freedom fighters and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad is his great grand-uncle. The actor has named his youngest son Azad Rao Khan after the freedom fighter. 
·         Aamir was seen in brief roles as a child artiste in two movies – his uncle Nasir Hussain’s directorial ‘Yaadon Ki Baaraat’ and his father Tahir Hussain’s production ‘Madhosh’.
·         Aamir was a keen and active sportsman during his growing years and played tennis in state-level championships.
·         He was already married to his childhood sweat-heart Reena Dutta before achieving stardom. His ex-wife Reen also features briefly in the opening song of his movie ‘QSQT’.
·         At the age of 16, Aamir made an experimental silent film called Paranoia, along with his friend Aditya Bhatacharya (Filmmaker Basu Bhattacharya’s son). He also played the lead role alongside actors Neena Gupta and Victor Banerjee in the film funded by Dr, Shriram Lagoo.
·         Aamir also worked for a theatre group called Avantar and started out doing backstage activities before featuring in plays.
·         He also assisted his director uncle Nasir Hussain in two films – ‘Manzil Manzil’ and ‘Zabardast’. Aamir joined the film industry against his parents’ wish.
·         Aamir hates loud music and that’s the reason he doesn’t attend many film parties. And whenever he does, he retires to a separate room with a few like-minded friends.
·         Aamir and Juhi Chawla became good friends while shooting for ‘QSQT’, and the duo went on to do some more films together. However, their friendship soured when Aamir played a prank on Juhi on the sets of 1997 film ‘Ishq’. Ever since, they haven’t done a movie together.
·         Aamir has an eating disorder and also doesn’t like taking baths, according to his wife Kiran Rao.
