Bollywood superstar Salman Khanon Thursday pleaded “not guilty” and alleged that he was framed by forest officials in the Arms Act case while deposing before a Jodhpur trail court in connection with the blackbuck poaching of October 1998.
Chief judicial magistrate Dalpat Singh Rajpurohit questioned the actor about the statements of the three witnesses in the case, who were earlier re-examined, but Salman termed them as ‘false’.
Referring to a statement signed by him in which a witness Uday Raghvan had stated that he brought the arms from Mumbai on his directions, Salman claimed that forest officials pressurised him to sign the statement.
The court asked the actor to produce evidences in support of his innocence and posted the matter for hearing on April 4.
Additional public prosecutor Dinesh Tiwari said this was the last chance for Salman to produce the witnesses or evidences in support of his defence.
Salman was charged of using his weapons illegally as their licence had expired when he went for hunting along with a few other actors during the shooting of his film ‘Hum Saath Saath Hai’ in 1998. However, the actor had maintained that he had applied for a renewal of his licence as soon as it expired and hence, he was not using them illegally.
