Mumbai, 25th Feb 2016: NES International School Mumbai - IB World School in association with South Asian IB Schools Association (SAIBSA) is hosting the NES National Science Festival, A tribute to Nobel Laureate Sir C.V. Raman on his discovery of Raman Effect since last 5 years. Science has permeated every walk of our lives, be it in the medical science or information technology. Its incredulity can be measured by way of innovations that have left mankind shell-shocked. In line with the global trend of conducting science festivals, NES International School Mumbai has been organizing NES National Science Festival, every year in association with the IB schools of South Asia International Baccalaureate Schools Association (SAIBSA) since last 5 years. Every year around 10,000 visitors flock to this NES National Science Festival at the NES International Mumbai- IB World School.
This synergizes creative energy, collective scientific thinking and interaction among the students that enhances their further interest in science. To achieve this, the 5th National Science Festival, 2016 is being organized by NESISM on 27th February, 2016 at the NES International School, Swapnanagari, Mulund (East). 200 projects by students of NES SVB group of 62 Institutions and 15 other IB participating schools will be exhibited at this daylong event. The other IB schools participating are DAV International School, Goldcrest International School, Oberoi International School, Oakridge International School, Fountainhead School, Ajmera Global School, Kodaikanal International School, Mercedez Benz International School, Aditya Birla Academy, Singapore International School, RBK International School, Jamnabai International School and more from other parts of the country.
“We are incubating tomorrow’s scientists, right here at NES International School Mumbai- IB World School. A teacher's purpose is not to create students in his own image, but to develop students who can create their own image. This is our 5th year and we are happy with the way our science festival has shaped over the years”, explains Dr. R Varadarajan, Founder-Principal, NES SVB Group.
The 1 –day festival hosts a Science Exhibition with working models by students Grades 5 to 12, a quiz competition, a scientific drawing & painting contest, a dance competition on space science, a Bio – Jewellery competition of designing jewellery using eco friendly and bio-degradable material, a Science Skit, Debate, Filmmaking, a NES National Science Quiz, NES International Youth Green Parliament.
One of the major highlight of the festival is the Teachers Seminar on ‘Science as an Interdisciplinary Subject.’ This seminar is organized in collaboration with 15 women scientists from IIT Mumbai, Nehru Science Centre, BARC, TIFR and Homi Bhaba Centre. The festival will be inaugurated in the presence of Dr. R Varadarajan, Founder-Principal, NES SVB Group with Mr. Rajesh Bhojani, Head Business Development, West Business, British Council, Dr. B. N. Jagtap, Chemistry Group Director, BARC, Dr. Radha Srinivasan, Professor of Physics, University of Mumbai, Dr. A. P. Jayaraman, Former Nuclear Scientist , BARC, Mr. Abraham Koshy Mumbai, Prin. Kaisar Dopaishi, President : SAIBSA, Principal – Singapore International School, Prof. Rajkumar Singh , IIT (Madras) and Prof. Shyam Sunder Iyer, IIT(New Delhi).
