‘Kapoor & Sons’: Opening day box-office collection

Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Fawad Kahn starrer ‘Kapoor & Sons’ hit the screens yesterday. The film opened with mixed reviews from critics and had a dull opening at the ticket counter. Directed by Shakun Batra and produced by Karan Johar, the film was high on promotions and Alia and Sidharth off-screen love also played a pivotal role in generating curiosity. But unfortunately, the plot and Alia-Sid’s reel love could not save the film from drowning.

 ‘Kapoor & Sons’ despite having prominent faces could only registered an opening day occupancy of 15-20%. Night shows registered as much as 35%-50% occupancy. It was expected that the film would open big at the box-office since there were no big releases for the past couple of weeks but audience did not show much interest on it. The film is expected to perform well in big cities, multiplexes than single theatres.

The film is likely to perform well in states like Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan considering the highest number of screens. 

'Kapoor & Sons' is a story of two brothers from a rather dysfunctional family. They both befriend the same girl, and things get a little messy when jealousy creeps in. The film plays out over a weekend vacation the family takes together.

Produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta and directed by Shakun Batra, 'Kapoor & Sons' stars Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt, Fawad Khan, Rishi Kapoor, Ratna Pathak Shah and Rajat Kapur in the lead roles. 

The music of the movie is given by Badshah, Amaal Malik, Arko, Tanishk Bagchi while the lyrics are penned by Kumaar, Badshah, Manoj Muntashir, Dr. Devendra Kafir and Abhiruchi Chand.
