Brussels suicide attack: Singer Abhijeet’s wife and son safe

Bollywood playback singer Abhijeet’s wife Sumati Bhattacharya and son were in Brussels at the time of the suicide attack. They are stranded in Brussels when series of explosions took place at Brussels airport and a city metro station, killing over 20 people yesterday morning but by God’s blessings the singer's family is safe.

The singer posted on Twitter that his family is safe.
Abhijeet shared that his wife and son have been evacuated and are in a safe zone now. He wrote, “#Brussels jst spoke to my wife n son at #BrusselsAirport..They r bn evacuated to a safe zone God is great.. Thx @jetairways.”
The singer's family was on board a New York bound Jet Airways flight, which had a stop over in Brussels.

"My wife and son are safe but stranded in Brussels. Initially they were not guided where to go and what to do. Then by the time a third announcement was made, they were evacuated and taken to ..
"They stood there at the tarmac for nearly three hours with no food, just a glass of water. It was pretty cold there and they didn't even have their warm clothes with them as it was in the luggage. They were then taken to a refuge camp and now have been asked to evacuate even that," he said.

"There are no taxis, no transport available. One train has been allocated which will take them to a city which is 20-min away," he added.
Post the incident, Jet Airways wrote that they are constantly working on the safety of their guests and the staff. Abhijeet thanked them.
Abhijeet also tried to contact the Indian Embassy.
Brussels suicide attack at the airport on Tuesday morning killed at least 21 people and left several injured, Belgian news agency Belga informed that a third explosion was reported at Maelbeek metro station in central Brussels, close to EU institutions. More bombs have been found at the airport.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has confirmed that there were no Indians among the casualties.
