‘Walk for Chennai’ Fashion Show sees Tennis Players on the Catwalk

CHENNAI, 4th January 2016: On the eve of the country’s most awaited ATP World Tour event, in a tribute to the city that has been its home for the last 20 years, the Aircel Chennai Open 2016 in association Reliance Trends held a fashion show that was titled ‘Walk for Chennai’ at the Hyatt Regency hotel on the evening of the 3rd of January.
Reliance Trends showcased their Spring Summer’16 Indian and Western wear collections in soft cool fabrics and light pastels. With his witty charm, Vijay Amritraj was the perfect host for the evening as players and guests watched in rapt attention. The show was opened by Indian film actress, Tapsee Pannu. but the cynosure of all eyes were the tennis players who walked the ramp. Dressed in trendy apparels from Reliance Trends, Santiago Giraldo, Vasek Pospisil, Oliver Marach made a dashing entry on the ramp, some doing the catwalk for the very first time in their lives! Dressed in the trendy ‘Modi’ jackets, the players strutted down the ramp with ease.
The second sequence saw Indian lads Sanam Singh and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan showcase their swagger on the ramp wearing knee-length shorts with funky t-shirts. They were accompanied by Nicolas Monroe and Fabrice Martin, both of whom enjoyed the experience. In between sequences, Vijay asked his brother and Indian Davis Cup Captain, Anand Amritraj to walk down the ramp to a loud applause from the audience!
Reliance Trends is giving away 10,000 clothes to the Bhoomika Trust towards flood relief & rehabilitation for the city of Chennai. Aircel Chennai Open is launching #ACOCares where various initiatives are raising money for the Chief Minister’s Relief Funds for the Chennai Floods. Leander Paes will be contributing Rs. 1,000 for every winner and ace he hits in the tournament. Vijay Amritraj will be contributing Rs. 1 lakh while Title sponsors Aircel and partners Omnigel will also be pitching in with their contributions. In addition, the Aircel Chennai Open is holding an auction of tennis memorabilia and other signed player merchandise from the likes of Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova, Stan Wawrinka and many others. The auction has items put into 3 packages, and bidders will need to bid for a complete package. The silent bidding will be done by ballot boxes which are placed at the stadium venue and the winning bidders will be declared on the final day of the week just before the finals.
