The 6th Edition of the India International Coffee Festival inaugurated in Mumbai

Mumbai, Jan 21st 2016: India’s flagship coffee summit, India International Coffee Festival, organized by India Coffee Trust and supported by the Coffee Board of India was inaugurated by Shri. Roberio Oliviera Silva, Executive Director, International Coffee Organization today in Mumbai. Playing perfect hosts to their guests were Ms. Leena Nair, Chairman Coffee Board of India and Chairman, IICF Steering Committee along with Mr. Anil Kumar Bhandari, President India Coffee Trust and Vice Chairman IICF Steering Committee were seen interacting with industry delegates and thought leaders from the Coffee fraternity amongst others at the event. Ms. Geetu Verma, Executive Director-Foods & Refreshment, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. addressed the audience and shared insights on the coffee industry.
The biennial festival began from January 19th -23rd, 2016 at The Lalit, Mumbai. Ms. Leena Nair, Chairman, Coffee Board of India and Chairman, IICF Steering Committee said “Coffee is a versatile beverage. Internationally, coffee has transcended beyond levels in the last few years. India for the last decade has recorded a robust consumption rate of 5-6%, it is yet to catch up with the refined consumption habits of the sophisticated coffee markets .It is heartening to note that about 35% of the Indian Coffee Exports in the year 2014-15 is due to value-added products. The 12th plan has a comprehensive avenue through which subsidies can also be availed for export of high-value green coffee to far off destinations and value-added coffee as India brand”
Talking about the India International Coffee Festival, Mr. Anil Kumar Bhandari, President India Coffee Trust and Vice Chairman IICF Steering Committee said, “The primary focus of IICF 2016 is to create a gateway to India’s unsaturated market through this platform for Indian and International stakeholders. We aim at increasing coffee footprint across the country. The theme for this year’s festival is “Celebrating with Coffee”. We see a great future to retail coffee in the country. Through the workshops arranged as part of this festival, we are encouraging and training coffee enthusiasts by creating skilled resources in the industry as that is the need of the hour today!”
IICF 2016 is crafted to provide a glimpse into the current coffee developments & emerging opportunities and will connect the entire coffee industry through a series of educative, business, networking & festive events. Several eminent speakers, industry specialists and globally renowned experts will discuss & deliberate how coffee technology has evolved over the last 2 years.
The 5-day festival which is currently underway comprises of an International Conference Exhibition for all things coffee, Skill-building workshops, Product launches, Coffee Quiz, Coffee Awards, and a host of other exciting activities. The festival will also serve as a platform for many Coffee Growers, Roasters, Retailers, Equipment suppliers, Researchers and entrepreneurs. Visitors will get to enjoy coffee tastings, hands-on workshops, demonstrations from world-class baristas, a preview of the latest products and so much more.
This year the festival saw as many as 500 delegates for the conference and skill building workshops.  More than 60 companies are exhibiting at the Coffee Expo, drawing visitors from across the globe. Leading brands like Hindustan UniLever, Tata Coffee, Nestle, Leo Coffee, Buhler, Kaapi Machines MK Associates, Swiss Pack, Bunn-O-Matic, Diedrich, CMA, Probat, YARA India, Rabo Bank, Eltex marketing Services, Controlmatic, etc. are exhibiting at the event .Coffee Board will recognize and reward the Best Roasters, Curers, Exporters as well as Finest Coffees at the Awards Ceremony to be held at the event. Barista Championship awards will also be presented at the ceremony. For the first time, through online popular voting, India’s Best Café’s will also be recognized and rewarded.
IICF 2016 will also see the India premiere of the globally acclaimed film, “Caffeinated”. The maker of this documentary Mr Vishal Solanki is going to be a part of the premiere for an interactive talk with the audience.
Startups have completely transformed the way India consumes their Coffee be it Coffee delivery or E-commerce or Cafés or Roast & Ground Coffee sellers. IICF will also play a large focus on this Start-ups who are currently thriving on the Indian coffee scene.

Mumbai, 21st January, 2016: The second day of the 9th annual mega congregation of the India Food Forum held in Mumbai culminated in the 9th Annual Coca Cola Golden Spoon Awards, which felicitated outstanding achievements of food service operators and food & grocery retailers for the calendar year 2015.
At a glittering ceremony attended by the who’s who of foodservice and food retail sectors in India, Future Group bagged the award for Retail Expansion – Increase in store count and retail space in the Food & Grocery Retail segment as well as for Effective Technology Application in the same segment. The Group’s supermarket chain Easyday, which it acquired in 2015, was adjudged the IMAGES Most Admired Food & Grocery Retailer of the Year: National Supermarket.

Jubilant Foodworks’ QSR chain Domino’s won the prestigious category of IMAGES Most Admired Food Service Chain of the Year for Foreign OriginDomino’s has 948 outlets located in 217 cities in India. The chain logged 19% growth in sales turnover over the previous year, 21% growth in retail space and same store sales grew by 5% over the previous year
The company’s other QSR format Dunkin’ Donuts won the award for IMAGES Most Admired Food Service Retailer of the Year: Effective Technology Adoption. Domino’s also bagged the award for Retail Expansion – Increase in store count and retail space in the foodservice segment. 
Aditya Birla Retail won twin awards with More Megastore winning the IMAGES Most Admired Large Format Food & Grocery Retailer of the Year, and Aditya Birla Retailbeing declared the IMAGES Most Admired Food & Grocery Retailer of the Year for Private Label DevelopmentAt Aditya Birla Retail, retail space for private labels increased 12% in 2015 over the previous year. Owing to the various initiatives taken in 2015, the FMCG private label delivered margin higher than manufacturers’ FMCG, for the first time ever. In a showcase of its continuous excellence, Godrej Nature’s Basket was once again declared the IMAGES Food & Grocery Speciality Retailer yet again for the 6th consecutive year.
Also notably, young turk Chaayos’ experiments with chai bore fruit with the brand -- which was born in November 2012 -- bagging two awards: for IMAGES Most Admired Food Service Chain Of The Year: Cafes & Bars, and for IMAGES Most Admired Food Service Chain Of The Year: Human Resource Policies & Initiatives.
Haldiram’s bagged the prestigious award for of IMAGES Most Admired Food Service Chain of the Year: Indian Origin. Haldiram’s currently has 44 outlets located in 11 cities; the chain registered 11% growth in sales turnover in 2015 over the previous year, sales per square foot grew by 15% over the previous year, and same store sales grew by 13 %.

Other home-grown concepts in food service that were honored were Natural Ice Cream, Goli Vada Pav, Kebab Xpress, Heritage Fresh, and Berco’s. Convenience store chain Twenty Four Seven bagged the trophy for highest same store sales growth and Trent Hypermarket for supply chain management in the food & grocery retail segment.

Veteran actress Juhi Chawla has managed to have a firm standing in Bollywood for over 30 years now & will be seen in an upcoming movie Chalk N Duster alongside actresses Shabana Azmi, Divya Dutta based on the current flawed education system that has been commercialized. 

Juhi insisted the makers of the film to include a scene where she is seen practicing yoga as the Miss India title holder herself has been a staunch follower of yoga & wanted to give out a subliminal message to the audiences. 
Juhi Chawla manages to look flawless looking as fresh as she looked in QSQT & she only has her healthy lifestyle & fitness regime to thank for. 

Juhi shares, 'The movie also throws light on how teachers are in their regular lives. I strongly believe one needs to have a balanced mind to be at peace throughout the day. I personally practice yoga before commencing my day so why not show a teacher do it.' 

Juhi shares her fitness secret, ' I am glad I am an actress, as that way I realize I have to look good, feel good and remain healthy. For that, I eat in moderation,  drink a lot of water, do yoga, and what I miss right now is a nice long walk! An ideal day for me would be able to do some work, manage my family and life at home and also get some exercise like walking in fresh air or out in the greenery somewhere.'

   Mumbai: “Clean India Technology Week is a great initiative aimed at bettering present cleaning systems and making Swachh Bharat possible,” announced Shri Subhash Desai, Minister of Industries, Govt of Maharashtra, at the inauguration of five concurrent expos, today. Part of Clean India Technology Week (CITW) 2016, the expos comprised of Clean India Pulire; Car Care Expo; IFS Expo; Waste Technology India Expo and Laundrex India. Organised by the VIS Group in partnership with Afidamp Servizi, Italy, the event will go on till January 23 at Bombay Exhibition and Convention Centre, Mumbai.
Speaking at the event, the Minister further elaborated that, “Mumbai is the economic capital of India and we have to make every effort at keeping our city clean and green. Our Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of Swachh Bharat is not only the responsibility of a few but of each and every one of us. Today, at CITW we are witnessing innovations and new technologies that will help us in making rapid strides towards achieving a cleaner India.”
A one of its kind activity, CITW brings together cleaning and waste management professionals from across the globe and showcases over 600 national and international cleaning products and systems have been showcased. “On one level, it gets together professionals and brands associated with the cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation industry, while on other levels it engages Government bodies through participation, takes up massive public awareness campaigns, awards achievers in the field and showcases the latest cleaning technologies of the world through expos and holds seminars to engage the industry, among others,” says Mangala Chandran, Director-VIS Group.
Cleaning industry professionals, service providers, FM managers, solution seekers from sectors like healthcare, pharma, industries, business houses, hotels and government department & bodies such as transport corporations, Municipal Corporations who are increasingly looking for cleaning & hygiene solutions formed part of the event.
